This blog is a labor of love. The photography hobby of mine is a labor of love. I try to post a new photo at least every other day, sometimes more, sometimes less. It requires a lot of time investment and unless I didn’t really liked to take photos and share them with everyone else, this blog would not be here.
So thanks for stopping by and taking a look at different places that I had a chance to visit. Every photo was taken because I thought it was cool and unique in its own way. You can look at different categories on the right side of the blog, pick your destination and see what I saw. I get a chance to travel only a few times per year, vacation is precious time, and I try to pick places where I have not been before or visit the same places during different season.
I think as most people, I always liked to take photos, ever since my aunt got me and my two cousins basic 35mm cameras for our birthdays – we are a few days apart from each other, I started taking photos. I was probably only about 10 or 11 years old. They were not by any means spectacular, black & white with self processing in our bathroom converted into the dark room. Then, about 20 years ago, when I was living in China, I got my first point and shoot 35mm camera. Everything was in color, no self processing was required, as Konica and Kodak processing machines were on every corner. I still have hundreds of those 4×6 prints. Good memories. About ten years ago I bought my first digital P&S, new world opened up of shoot as much as you want with no price tag attached photography. I was still shooting people, like my daughter, with occasional landscapes and flowers. Over the last 10 years I tried a few different digital P&S, but they all missed one critical feature – I could never take a photo at the exact moment I pressed the button. You know, there is always about one second delay and I could never control the shutter speed, so many photos ended up blurry.
In mid 2009 we were planning on taking vacation in Costa Rica and I decided to invest into better camera to record our adventures down south. This is how I got my Nikon D90. This camera is great and I took a lot of great photos over the next year. But there was always something missing in it when I took landscape shots.
In summer of 2010 I discovered the wonderful world of High Dynamic Range (HDR) photography. From that point I decided that I had something to share with you and grow with my mastery of fine art photography. This is how this blog was created.

Thank you for liking my ever-so-humble post. Your photographs are absolutely gorgeous! You capture such a deep perspective, such depth of field. I’m only doing point-and-shoot stuff, so I don’t dream of getting results like yours, but one day, when I buy a serious camera… I love the vanishing point on pathways & you have so many good examples of shots with that. I could just look at images of trails and roads going into the distance forever!

nope, have not made a single cent from it yet. I have full time job that I like, so this is just an expensive hobby… hopefully one day get more exposure and make some $, at least to pay for camera and some vacation expenses. Monetizing on it is much harder than it sounds.

Fascinating how HDR works–I had never heard of it till you “liked” my blog and I came here to see what you’re all about. You had me at “this blog is a labor of love”! I’ll bet those old self-developed black-and-white photos are wondrous classics…I just started using my very first digital camera, and have the same difficulty with the button….I used to use simple, old-fashioned 35 mm disposable cameras and I think they take fine pics, just as good anyway…but the digital one was a gift, and it’s nice to have so many shots available, as I do get carried away! Looking forward to checking out some more of your shots…

was reading the about page and isn’t it funny how that goes sometimes – give a kid something and soon, it could become their passion. do your cousins who also received gifts of cameras at a young age have a similar passion for photography?
First Class both in your camera work and Photoshop or what ever you use. I shot with a D300/D300s, but my first camera was a Kodak Instamatic when I was 16.

Hi Dmitrii, I am in love with your photgraphy. I am pretty bad at taking photographs, speaking for myself, usually good photos I take are by fluke. I currently have a Samsung digital which seems to need a degree of some sort to operate. Thinking about getting out my Coca Cola conventional camera with film to use instead ! Thanks! I don’t take them everyday… but try to go somewhere when I have a chance and take a lot of photos. Some of them end up looking interesting… I actually find it very hard to come up with 20+ photos each month. Not every month I can even post that many…Thanks for stopping by!

Your photos are eally amazing. I have a simple Canon Power Shot Elph, and the magic for me comes in the intuition and the composition while I’m making the shot.
